Description

The house was originally a bakery with barn, now equipped with a kitchen with fridge, 2 burner stove, oven, coffee maker and kettle.

Through the dining and sitting area you can walk into the garden with terrace, with beautiful views over the meadows.

In the bedroom there are two single beds (just new mattresses) and the bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. TV and internet are available. And a dog is welcome.

Region

Nijensleek originated in the Middle Ages when the farmers from Vledder brought the ‘nije slieken’ (freely translated: new mud, or new wet grounds) into culture and started living there. The history of the farm where this vacation home is located goes back to 1314 when Templars settled here. These showed the people the way through the marshes of Drenthe.

Now here is a brocanterie with beautiful tea garden established. The area around Nijensleek has a special history with many monuments and a beautiful nature. Nearby villages like Frederiksoord and Wilhelminaoord have the status of protected villages. Thirty-five monuments tell the unique story of the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid. But time has not stood still here: The surrounding area is buzzing with activities. Weldadigheid museums, events, fairs, concerts, exhibitions. Forget the time and enjoy!
The cozy historic center of Steenwijk offers you the opportunity to stroll in all the nice stores that this city has to offer.

Sandwiched between the three national parks: the Weerribben, the Drents-Friese Wold and the Dwingelerveld, the area around Nijensleek has endless recreational opportunities to offer. Thousands of acres of unspoiled nature, where you can walk, sail, bike or horse ride sometimes for hours without meeting anyone.

Lovely week we had in this cozy cottage. Fine large garden with beautiful views. In the vicinity you can bike everywhere. Highly recommended is the Maartjestuin where you can enjoy a delicious High Tea in a very beautiful and special garden and nearby. We also enjoyed the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid in Frederiksoord. We cycled all around the area to see all the beautiful buildings of this society.
Nice contact with the owner who was very helpful.

In the originally bakery cottage of owner Teuni I (woman 62 with dog, Abel) have spent a wonderful week in April 2018.
The weather was beautiful, but apart from that I found the cottage itself and especially the view of the very beautifully landscaped garden and the pastures behind it
amazing. I felt right at home there. If you like great luxury, the cottage is perhaps less suitable, but everything I needed was there
and more than that. On the table was a welcoming vase with beautiful flowers composed by Teuni herself. Since I was also here
partly to work, this stimulated me to actually sit at the table and write.
In my "spare time" I enjoyed walking and cycling. There is a lot to do in the area and Teuni also gave me original tips to undertake.
We said goodbye with coffee and cake and I would definitely like to come back.

Good stay in spacious cottage. It is a nice looking cottage with nice view and terrace with deck chairs and garden. Furnishings cozy and good sofa and chairs. Nice bouquet of flowers on the vase. Good bed and dog welcome. Minus point:. Busy road at the front making it sometimes a bit difficult to drive in. But you have further in the garden and the cottage no burden of. Shower dated

Fantastic cottage, very spacious for 2 people.
What we really liked is that we could use the whole garden. With the beautiful weather we enjoyed the tranquility and beautiful garden outside!
A tour of both the garden and the house of Teunie made the stay more than complete.

Great that through Natasha, on such short notice, my stay in Nijensleek could be arranged.
I had a wonderful lazy midweek in and around the cottage next to Teuni's old farm. The cottage met all my expectations and I felt at home immediately. The weather was beautiful all days, but on less beautiful days it is certainly also a cozy accommodation. Although there is a private terrace with garden furniture, I was allowed to use the entire garden and eat the ripe fruit. This (tea) garden is really great and Teuni is happy to give a tour.
The kitchen and sanitary facilities in the cottage are simple but adequate, there is ample reading material and in the surroundings there is much to do. For me this cottage is a discovery and I am already looking forward to coming back next year.
